BACK TO BELHAVEN!!!!

Wow so I apologize for the SUPER LONG delay in updating what has been going on! When Christmas break hit, I was in relax mode, so I kinda forgot about the blog. Go figure right? hahah!

Well anyway! I am back at Belhaven and everything is in full swing right now, shows and everything!

This semester got off to an interesting start. So we all get back to school and are ready to go for the semester and we got an little welcome home present. About 150 water pipes in Jackson decided to break open due to the cold wheather or something. So needless to say, Belhaven was OUT of water!!! This meant no showers, water, or toilets....Yeah about that last part. I mean you can shower with jugs of water (which is a very thrilling experience as Erin and Steph have told me ;) and you can buy water to survive on, but toilets? For students who live ON campus???? That's not exactly cool. So we had to use the good old porter poties! Yup! It wasnt too terrible except for the fact that those of use who have this weird nack for using the bathroom around 1am was an issue. Going OUTSIDE, at 1AM, to go to the bathroom was a real PAIN. *Sigh* Haven't done that since I went to camp.

Not having running water caused one more problem. A FOOD problem. So most of us are from out of state and live on campus. Those who live on campus eat in the Cafeteria (referred to as the CAF). Wihtout running water, they couldn't really feed us....PROBLEM. It was when that little fact hit the CAF people that people were encouraged to leave campus. Me and my friends really didn't want to leave campus cuz 1.) We JUST got to school and 2.) we had NO place to go. =P So staying on campus was the plan. We had water to drink (and use for showers)and cars so that we could go get food anywhere we wanted...oh yeah and the porter poties to use for obvious reasons. =P

Then ANOTHER problem arose. The maintence guys were trying desperately to fix stuff on campus for us, but in order to do that, they had to shut the heat off in ALL the dorms...That's a problem when it can get down to about 20 degrees or lower outside and you are living in buildings made with CINDERBLOCKS. In other words, it was gonna get SUPER SUPER cold and because they didn't want have to thaw us out after a night of staying in the dorms, they decided that EVERYONE had to get off campus.

We were like...Ummmm ok. Where on earth are we gonna go? Thank goodness God provided a place! Anna's grandfather had a house down here and she and her dad were staying there before school started, so they invited us!

Staying at Anna's house was AWESOME!!!!!! All of us girls (Me, Steph, Ginny, Anna, Kirsten and Erin) had a BLAST! Not only did we just get to relax and chill before school started, but we got a chance to just be with one another without the stress of school. =D We raked leaves in the yard, watched movies, danced (that was after we wathed FAME), made cookies, PB&J french toast and all sorts of yummy things, drank LOTS of tea, coffee and hot chocolate and oh yeah...SLEPT! ;)

Out of all the things we did though, I would have to say that the most memorable thing we did was play Charades and The Dating Game. Both are improv games and I have to say, that they were the BEST rounds of improv games I have ever played!! Charades was just epic! Some of the most creative...no...unique...no...special....okay there's no way around this....Some of the wierdest things I've ever heard of came out of these two games.

Let me put it this way...When you play a game of Charades with THEATRE MAJORS, you are going to see things such as "Long-Butted Snake" and "Chewed-Faced Monkey"...Need I say more as to what the game was like? ;)

Ah it was good times! God provided an extra time for us to rest before the semester started. We were sad to depart from the house, but we were ready for a good semester. I am POSITIVE God knew we needed that extra rest before school started cuz man it kicked off with a bang! The Importance of Being Earnest kicked off the day after school started. We had auditions, and those were the LONGEST auditions I've EVER been to! They lasted from 4pm-12am...YEAH...IT WAS LONG! GAH....all of us were exhausted! So the next day all those who auditions and got callbacks were like zombies. Literally...we were so tired. BLAH.

So I am not in the cast for Earnest, BUT I am on the Lighting Crew so I am super hyped about that! And I'm also sound board operator for the show so I am REALLY looking forward to that. That means I will have no life once Tech Week roles around, but hey, that's the life of a theatre major. =)

Oh some of you may want to know what I'm taking this semester, so here's the lineup. Mon. Wed, and Fri. I have Mime, Acting 1 and Stagecraft (a.k.a how to learn to use all the tools in the scene shop...OR if you want my definition: The class in which you learn the theatre way to use power tools and how to use them safely while looking like you just stepped out of "Home Improvement"---and that last part is true) Tuesdays/Thursdays I have Math and Old Testement, but it's only on Tues. that I have Stagecraft lab. LONG LAB, but tis fun!

Gah, so I just looked at the time and I realzied I have to go print out a headshot and resume for class tomorrow. Joy. So I must depart for now, but more posts will be coming soon esp. ones that relate to "Bob the Builder Crew and The Adventures in Stagecraft 1"!!

Farewell for now and I shall talk to you all soon! Much love! <3
